Oh, yeah, and one more thing before I forget:

Dusting off my grumpy old fart/anthropologist hat for a bit, somebody should REALLY remind the world in general and fans of evolutionary psychology in particular and fans of evolution psychology writing science fiction in specific that hunter-gatherer societies are in general far more egalitarian and less hierarchal than agrarian ones.

This whole romanticized view of tribal life to justify completely bogus evolutionary psychology designed to reinforce whatever the romanticizer's preconceptions of the idealized primeval human state are thing gets up my nose so fucking bad I can't stand it.

And while we're at it, can somebody tell those Atkins/"caveman diet" folks that in your typical hunter-gatherer ("Appropriator," my favorite anth professor would have insisted) society, 90% of the calories are provided by women's labor?

An appropriator diet is really healthy.

It's mostly vegetables and insects.

Nom nom nom.

I've read 70% to 90%+ (for Winter/hard weather).

While this is true... and I believe so --- and for if the neutron sayeth, it is because on my 15th year I built a cyclotron in Dad's garage and he said, "This is good... but the electricity bill is going to get you an ass whoopin'." Funny, but not the point --- the point is, meaty-meat protein is much easier for the body to process which allowed diversion from the monkey belly to the monkey brain. Specifically for frontal lobe development. 'cause brains is good. mmmm braiiinsssss. The meaty-meat protein however in quantaties of "too much" acts as a poison on the liver.

The hunter/gatherer model depicting mighty men warriors on the hunt and stay-at-home moms is BS and is will continued to be challenged.

Nom nom on your insects and veggies. I'm having X-mas cookies. :P
Funny, I'm having xmas cookies too. *g*

Insects = very high quality protein!
Mmm. Meat.

still only need 10% in your diet, though.
I substitute meat for cookies and I eggnog in your general direction.

See, you don't have to. There are lots of bacon cookie recipies.
bacon . . . cookies!

Are these recipes, per chance, on the internets?
that's where he found them. google bacon cookies (there are several different general categories as far as I can tell. Some of the are fairly old recipes...
