Thank you!

I needed something else to read before I went to bed.

I have been, thank you. And that Amazon link you've got set up for this is the easiest thing ever...

All Will's idea, IIRC. He is the smart funding model guy.

Glad you are enjoying!

That was *different*

In a good way.

Yeah, I read it, and now I am going to bed.

Oooo.

Plz to pass along my admiration for the really freaking sweet POV in this one? (And Dice needs a fucking hug, man.)

(Also: ...I am trying to figure out what the hell is up with Brady. I know what it reads like, but I don't trust you lot. *poutyfaces*)

I'm SOOOOO gonna write a fic. AFTER things slow down...

(I'm working from home with sick child...not working much, though, with outstanding S.U. to read...I'm about a third of the way through it so far).

I concur with your parenthetical.

Sigh. The obvious interpretation is... obvious, which means it's also most likely Wrong. Stupid savvy writers.

(But then again, Lau isn't his type? I understand platonic, but he doesn't look blind. Or dead.)
[info]erinya wrote:

Lau isn't his type. (What was the phrase--"aesthetic appreciation"?)

"You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din."

He has gaydar.

Community theater.

Honorable discharge from the military police.

And "the spectacle of Chaz Villette all but unhinging his jaw to eat a raspberry danish" makes his morning better.

Ok, now I'm just being dirty. But I do kind of think his POV seems to subtextually suggest something there. He's very aware of Chaz, if that makes sense. Unless I'm overreading (very possible!)

Yeah, it could all be red herrings, knowing our authors. It's fun to speculate, though, and it adds interest to his character (I've been more invested in Hafidha, Daphne, and Chaz up til this episode.)
[info]razorsmile wrote:

A case could be made that he's aware of Chaz because Chaz is a ... well, you know. That thing he's real trigger-happy about.
[info]erinya wrote:
Mar. 17th, 2008 08:04 am (UTC)
That's an excellent point. And suggests an alternative closeted identity.
[info]calanthe_b wrote:

I dunno. He was quite upset by Reyes looking at Chaz like something he wouldn't mind dissecting, there at the end. He seems more protective of Chaz than wary of him.

Hot damn- another good excuse to shirk on painting the rest of the masks I have to get done tonight. You people are killing my productivity with good fiction! No fair!

Also, don't know if I missed a FAQ somewhere or not, but is there a plan in the works for a print release of Unit files later on down the road?

Print publication... depends on if anybody wants to publish them.

Okay, this is the first ep I've read all the way through...and honestly, because I needed to read something to help me forget that which I read earlier and which disturbed me. It worked--I really enjoyed this and now I won't have nightmares from the stuff I read earlier. I'm finding so many characters written about in such a short span of time confusing, still. I don't have the same problem with a tv show with an ensemble cast; guess I'm a bit of a visual learner, I guess.

Oh, and you have my thanks, praise and blessings forever for making sure that the we didn't have to listen to the theme song. I can't stand Jane Siberry and I hate auto play embedded music. Teenage related trauma: after seeing/hearing her video for "Mimi on the Beach" eleventy billion times on the local video shows (in the days before Much was basic cable), I don't react well when I hear her voice.

I think I'll catch up on the previous eps tomorrow since it's almost midnight and I have to go to work tomorrow. :(

This isn't about this specific episode, but I thought y'all might like to know that my subconscious apparently liked your canon enough to steal it, as I just had an extremely memorable nightmare about a host who could render people unconscious by skin contact (sort of like Rogue). Which made it entertaining, trying to fight him off. But it's not like I'm that attached to decent sleep, I guess, and anyway I'm fine with trading it for a higher quantity of interesting in my day.

whoo hoo! I saw the link pop up on my iGoogle page and was all kinds of excited.
I really liked the POV on this, and how it goes from Dice's view to also the WTF view...I especially like dipping into Brady's thoughts.

I look forward to the next bit :-)

Ai, well, there went my morning. And my evening. *poof*. I picked up the third episode, glanced at it, and then devoured the whole damn thing over the course of the day. That'd be fantastic except for the work and studying and interview-prep I should be doing.

Anyhow, thanks. *grin*
