Every little bit helps. Rarely feels like it, but it does. And new words down don't necessarily reflect the work being done behind the scenes in the brain. A friend and I developed the term 'carrots' to describe how much progress has been made when word count can't reflect it properly. Of course, the carrots themselves are vague as a value, but it's about how one sees the day's work, after all.
