I don't think I have my Richard Bach books here, or I'd dig one out to quote it. (If you haven't seen Richard Bach's book "Gift of Wings", his writings about flying are >>> his writings on metaphysics.) He writes about his aviation-literary heroes, like St. Exupery and Neville Shute, and how it's probably best that he hasn't met them because in person, what with the awkwardness and the realities and all, he could never get to the best part of them - that he's already had through their books.
