This is SF's current version of the age old "The world is changing and it makes me uncomfortable." I got the same thing from my mother complaining about how Upton Sinclair's "Lanny Budd" series had vanished and nobody knew about it any more. In its time it sold far more copies than Heinlein, and it was also fiction with a political message. Sinclair's message was less varied than Heinlein, but both wrote good fiction with a message.
These things come in waves, and while the specifics will change, the "world is changing and it makes me uncomfortable" has a long long pedigree.
