Hi, I've started an Unofficial WisCon 38 Programming Idea-Generation Fest in my blog.
The post is here.
Unlike my past idea-generation fests, this is NOT limited to anime/manga, but rather talking about any topic you'd like to see proposed for WisCon 38. Stop by with any idea, however semi-formed.

Do we live on other planets, go to the stars, cure cancer... or do we just like so-and-so’s cat?
So have you browsed Facebook all day or actually lived on another planet?
I managed 2,308 words (included those above) today, amazing as my brain has been shutting down all week as I invigilate exams in my 'don't give up on it' day job. It caused me to fall back from being ahead to just on schedule - ho hum. The lump today did feel like it filled a major gap and the thing is coming together.
Yourselves?

think you have to pull this switch here,... then turn that dial,... then press this button over here,...

So remember when there were post-WisCon intro threads and people could say, "Hey, I was at WisCon this year and if we met, this is how you can find me online!"
I'm making one.
Give us your deets if you dare!

thank you all for participating in our poll. the new name of the scholarship fund is the WisCon Member Assistance Fund, in a landslide.
the mechanism for applying for the fund will remain the same--nominate someone else or nominate yourself. tell us why the potential recipient would be a good person to attend WisCon and
give us an idea of what funds would make the difference between being able to attend and missing the convention. we accept nominations at any time but don't solicit them until december since that's when people are really making plans. (there is no advantage to applying early, but i think we have a good track record of not losing the early applications.) the deadline is february 15th and the recipients are notified by march 15th so that they will have a chance to get onto programming if they would like to do so. our new e-mail address will be fund@wiscon.info but i don't know if that's up and running yet.
we also accept donations at any time! all contributions should be made to SF3 with a note saying that you are contributing to the WisCon Member Assistance fund*. SF3 is a 501.3 organization, so your donations are tax deductible.
help us get the word out! we're part of the overall push to make WisCon more affordable for people who want to attend. we hope that the name change makes it clearer that any member can apply for assistance to attend WisCon, not just academics!
*and if you slip up and call it the scholarship fund, the way i almost just did, no worries--SF3 will know what you mean.

"In any good story the hero grows and changes, making a journey from one way of being to the next: despair to hope, weakness to strength, folly to wisdom, love to hate, and back again. It's these emotional journeys that hook an audience . . ." Christopher Vogler, The Writer's Journey

"It is through characters that [the reader] leads the extracurricular, imaginary and substitute life that is fiction's gift, and it is through the adventures, antics and predicaments of the characters that he may learn lessons that pertain to the conduct of his own life." --Oakley Hall, How fiction Works
