criminal minds hotch somewhat incongruou

just another wasted evening...

The end-of-season-2 updated death toll for Criminal Minds, in which Morgan pulls into the lead, but Elle still maintains second place despite a 19-episode handicap:

Number of bad guys shot, by character.

Derek Morgan: pulling into the lead by a nose with either 2.75 or possibly in second with 2.25 (Charm & Harm (split with Elle), Lessons Learned, Open Season (*possibly* split with Prentiss), and Legacy (split with Hotch, Prentiss, and the CotW).

The late, lamented, and very butch Elle Greenaway: still a strong second, (unless she's actually first) despite having left the show in 2x05, with 2.5 (Extreme Aggressor, Charm & Harm (split with Morgan), Aftermath)

Aaron Hotchner, moving back in the field with 2.25 (The Tribe, A Real Rain, Legacy (split with Morgan, Prentiss, and the CotW)

The unassuming but deadly Dr. Spencer Reid, still a strong fourth-place finish at 2 (LDSK, Revelations)

Emily Prentiss, a freshman but still in the field, with either .25 or .75, depending on whether one of those gunshots in Open Season was actually hers, or if all three were Morgan's. The .25 is the other quarter of Charles Holcomb in Legacy, who went down like the Titanic. And she's operating at a 27-episode disadvantage.

Everybody else? Zilch. Garcia doesn't kill people, J.J. has a count of three dogs and my eternal respect (and if we ever see her in a a firefight, I suspect she'll do just fine), and Gideon has, I believe, only once discharged his weapon. (Psychodrama, a futile shot across an aqueduct.)

You know, for most cop shows, after two seasons, 45 episodes, that list would be a heck of a lot longer.... We have a real bring 'am back alive ethos going on. If I tried to do that for NCIS... my fingers would fall off. *g*

Upcoming, eventually, a round up post on the pro-and-con drug addiction arguments... *g*

(ETA 05/18: I did my math wrong, and had to make a correction. *g*)

If I tried to do that for NCIS... my fingers would fall off.

Yabbut... I love NCIS. I really do. Granted, it used to be better. But I still love almost all the characters (not the Director). And Ducky, although probably the only character who never changes (with the possible exception of Abby), has never worn thin. He's adorable.

And besides, they don't always put a bullet in them. Sometimes they blow up. And sometimes they end up on their backs outside a van while Abby tasers them into incoherence. (That stalker episode, "Bloodbath," is one of my favorites.)
I used to watch it, despite the scripts, because I loved so many of the actors.

But I can't, anymore. It just offends me to the core of my being.

And gets stupid on me.

And I love David McCallum THIS MUCH. (As you might have noticed from my icon collection...)
I watch it for Pauley Perrette - I've got a huge crush on her! Also, after a marathon session of CM it is great for comic relief ;) And yes, David McCallum is awesome as well...(but I want to marry Abby)
She is awesome.

I like Sean Murray too. And I actually like Mark Harmon a great deal.

I tried so hard to watch that show. Eventually, though, my TV was going to suffer from having something hurled through it, so I had to stop.
While Criminal Minds is pure brain food, I still like NCIS for entertainment value. Some days, I need it.
I've grown fond of both shows. And Bones on Fox.
We had an argument as to whether Reid got the Fisher King's scalp or not, but we decided that accidentally talking the unsub into blowing himself up while trying to save his life... didn't count. *g*
I think that one's all the CotW, isn't it? Because Our Guys are pretty pissed off about the shoot. They wanted him alive.
I have a feeling that Gideon, like Reid, really doesn't *like* guns.

No law enforcement affection for the weapon there.

And I think for him to ever shoot somebody, it will be a peak dramatic moment.
If you had more free time (*grin*) I'd suggest you recap the eps for Television Without Pity...
*g* I think I like the show too much to conform to their exacting standards....
There's no such thing as a wasted evening, not with activities that involve this show.

And if that's not another reason to love the show - the fact that the team has personally had to shoot and kill less than a dozen people in two seasons - I don't know what is. Something like NCIS might be entertaining just for the sake of the actors, but this is a show that commands your attention with every single aspect of itself.
Indeed. Another one of those there thematic statements. You *don't* need a gun.

Helps sometimes, though.

I hope it's a good long time before Gideon shoots anybody, if ever. I *love* that he hasn't done that.
I love those thematic statements. They make me feel all warm and happy, for some reason. *Grins crookedly*

Ah, but to have one (or two) and not need to use it (or them)? Is best of all, as it means that they've found another way to win without simply resorting to the person who most successfully inflicts the most amount of physical violence in the shortest amount of time wins.

The day Gideon can't talk someone around and has to fire his gun, I will probably be very unhappy. One of the CM drinking games should be for when Gideon talks somebody down or around without having to inflict any violence.
