spies mfu sleeps on planes

in the time of my confession, in the hour of my deepest need...

We momentarily pause the deathrace to bring you the following announcement:

via muncle:

Time Life has licensed The Man From U.N.C.L.E. from Warner Bros, and will release it in a similar fashion as their fabulous Get Smart set (which just won an award).

The set will include all 4 seasons, 105 episodes, in one big set sold via direct-response (TV ads and online). We've also been told that the show won't go to retail until the fall of 2008, giving Time Life approximately a 1 year exclusive window.

I was in LA last week and I overheard talk that U.N.C.L.E. stars Robert Vaughn (Napoleon Solo) and David McCallum (Illya Kuryakin) are involved in the creation of bonus material, and will tape a joint interview in the next few weeks (we had a previous news story on this). McCallum has also donated his "home movies, shot on the U.N.C.L.E. set, for the DVD set. Original UNCLE directors Richard Donner and Joseph Sargent, as well as writer Dan Hargrove are also rumored to be participating in the DVD bonus materials.

Well. And about time, too.

Hey, does anybody know where I can purchase/obtain an MP3 of this track: "Senor Coconut and His Orchestra - Humo En El Agua (Smoke on The Water")?

I don't want the whole album, and American iTunes only has the English-language version, the bastards. It looks like the UK iTunes has the one I want. But no love for me there....

Girls that glitter defile hope
We think that love is just tightening that sad little rope
And then we open our eyes and we see through the gash of a fluttering eyelash
We see love trying desperately to flee
But you don't ever have to fear
Just break its wings and it will never disappear

--Hannah Fury

I can get it.

You want?
Yes please. If it's UK iTunes, though, I need it without the copyprotect, not being you and all.

I will pay you back?
If you can tell me how to convert from itunes' format to .mp3, I can do that. Otherwise, I can maybe burn you a CD and post it, if that would work.

No need to worry about payback.
The newest version of iTunes (in the US anyway) gives you the option of downloading without copyprotect. Otherwise, you have to burn a CD and re-rip, to convert.

I owe you bigtime. *g*
Don't worry about it. :)
The Man from UNCLE information *is* wonderful! As a huge UNCLE fan (I like it a lot versus I weigh 500 pounds!) I am so looking forward to it.

The question is to Time Life or not to Time Life...

Yes. I have my geek on but good now.
BOOYA! I suspect I won't be patient enough to wait an extra year... so I'm thinkin' the Time-Life route for me. (^_^)
I think you already have an offer, but if you need a UK person to do UK type things, let me know.
Thank you!

I want to pay the artist for the damned thing rather than stealing it offline, but they make it hard, you know?

V. Glad you are not underwater, BTW. Please keep it that way.
I believe there is a free programme called Super that will convert all kinds of stuff to other stuff. That might work.

And I know what you mean re: paying the artist.

V. Glad you are not underwater, BTW. Please keep it that way.

Will do. Praise be for living at the top of a hill. Enjoy your sunshine!

Since there's a(n) LJ community called MUNCLE for fans of The Man from Uncle, shouldn't there be one for fans of both The Man from Uncle and Shakespeare, called NUNCLE?
Oh my gosh. UNCLE!

Thought that would make you happy.

speaking of girls that glitter....

Re: speaking of girls that glitter....

And that, right there, is the best explanation I've ever seen of why I can't read romance.

Senor Coconut

is this the one?

Ouch - Man from Nuncle reference above. Delighted to hear about the official DVD release, however.

Re: Senor Coconut

Liz found it for me. *g*
Great news on U.N.C.L.E. I have a couple of episodes on "official" VHS. I also have the soundtrack on vinyl and cd. It'd be nice to see all of the episodes after so long.

alsowik: I like the Hannah Fury poem. :-)
Hee. It's a song. You can dowload it from her website--

The set will include all 4 seasons, 105 episodes, in one big set

I think I have most of seasons 2, 3 and 4 on VHS recorded off the TV in the 80s. Ditto the Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E. I also have this DVD set. But I haven't seen series 1 since the original showing in the 60s.
And they are the best ones, IMHO.

Between truepenny and I, we have 104 episodes recorded off TV, but most of those are heavily cut, because MFU was a 53-minute show. And the quality on some is TERRIBLE.
Ooh! Ooh! Oo! Jordin and I are both clapping our hands and squeeing.

Also, I just bought an entire season of Have Gun, Will Travel. I'm interested to see how it's held up over, um, 50 years.

Spies! What's not to love!
I am currently listening to Carnival Justice a ton.
