"coincidence? no. it's *creepy.*"

So, I'm working my way through the various talks on this page (the Ramachandran one is excellent.) and I hit this gem:

"Serendipity is when you find things you weren't looking for because finding what you were looking for is so damned difficult."

-- Erin McKean, Lexicographer

Oh yah. That's going in a book.

Also, the Rives four in the morning rap is making me wish I still wrote poetry, and still poetry slammed....

I've been a fan of Erin's for a while, although via her other preoccupation.

(I'm sure she mentioned making the dress she wears in that talk.)
hee. I was pretty sure that was handmade dress.

She reminds me a *lot* of Kelly Link.
Erin, by the way, is also http://www.dressaday.com. A woman of many talents.
So I've heard.
You now owe me approximately 4 Hours of my life.
only if you feel that was time ill-spent!
that sadly depends on your frame of reference.
As a person I feel smarter now, or entertained or at least impressed by some of the people who's talks I've seen by now.

My Schedule for Uni on the other hand...
Damnit Bear. You shouldn't just go irresponsibly flinging links like that around the internet! My morning just vanished, and it's now going on late afternoon....
I aim to serve...
I didn't know you poetry slammed.

Dang. We have to compare notes.
I don't. *g*

Well, not in fifteen years or so.

I don't write poetry anymore.
I haven't slammed in about that long either.

Can't remember how long it's been since I wrote some new... um, well, song lyrics is where it's been going for a while, I guess. Huh. That answers that question.

But I feel some poetry coming on. (Just sold one. Take one out of the box, gotta put one in, I guess.)

I hope it is a joyous and felicitous poem....
Oh, the best ones always seemed to come from me getting all pissed off or something. Well, some of the best ones.

If you want, ask me and I'll do "War Toys" for ya. It's my favorite to do in a bar/club full of people who didn't really have a poetry slam in mind, but are waiting for whatever entertainment is later. It's also got a line that I am told was taken up by some students at the local High School for the Arts in a really big way.
I look forward to it!
Besides, it's more fun to tell an old war story or two about slamming and then get distracted.
Hee. I don't really have many war stories.

My mom went to the nationals, though.
