More unofficial progress notes!

A completed (and you can't call it a first draft, with four writers editing each other as they go) draft of "Ballistic" exists. Cleverly, I have arranged the timing on this so that I can now ditch the whole thing on my cowriters for polishing over the weekend while I am at I-Con.

Also, we could not have done it without slithytove.

That means my remaining New Prose obligations until the fall sometime are the Subterranean Press novella, maybe another novelette, and the last 40K of that damned novel.

Okay. I may be able to do this, if I can remember how to write a book.

In news related to Subterranean Press, Bill Schafer emailed to tell me about something that I think it wise to pass along to you:

He says,

We're doing a limited edition of the delightful YA novel, INTERWORLD, that Neil Gaiman and Michael Reaves published last year. As you may have heard, Michael is having some serious health problems related to Parkinson's. He's recently had one surgery and is slated for a second. All of the profits from our edition of INTERWORLD will go to Michael to help him with his medical and daily living expenses. If you can help get the word out, we'd really appreciate it.

Below is some information about the book, a link where it may be ordered direct from us. Attached to this email is a copy of the foil stamping on the book's cover.

All best, and thanks in advance for any help you can give,

Interworld is a delightful YA novel written by Best-selling novelist and short story writer Neil Gaiman and acclaimed script writer Michael Reaves. Interworld has just been sent to the printer, and should ship in 4-5 weeks.

As Booklist notes, "A lad discovers that he can walk between alternate Earths–and is swept up in a war between them in this fast-paced, compulsively readable tale."

Interworld will, as with our other Neil Gaiman Limited Editions, be printed on 80# Finch paper in two colors. This time, instead of a dust jacket, we've gone with some extensive, intricate stamping. You may note that the limitation is half that of our usual Gaiman limiteds, making this likely to sell out quick.

One final, important note about our edition: Michael Reaves has recently had considerable health problems related to Parkinson's disease, with one round of brain surgery completed, and another in the near future. All of the profits from this limited edition will go to Mr. Reaves to help him with his medical and daily living expenses. Soon, we hope, he'll be feeling much better and back to bringing us wonderful novels such as The Shattered World and The Burning Realm, to name two personal favorites.

Limited: 500 signed numbered hardcover copies: $60
Lettered: 26 signed leatherbound copies in traycase: $250
