cognitive dissonance

The eprisode of Soap I was just watching had Joe Mantegna in it. Unrecognizable in a terrible beard as a Latin American guerilla with two lines.

IMDB suggests it was his first TV role.

It's sort of nice to know you can have an actual career after something like that.

Okay, I did the final pass through editorial notes for "King Pole, Gallows Pole, Bottle Tree." So I have been mightily productive today.

Tomorrow, we work on "The Tricks of London," and I have to figure out the actual motive and method of the crime, because that's sort of something I need to know before I can write a mystery story. Also, it could probably use a few characters. So there's somebody to suspect, you know.

Why do I have the strange urge to watch Soap now?
Because it's awesome!
How sad for me is it that I remember seeing that episode when it first aired...?

(Then again, that I can remember that far back is better than not being able to remember, I suppose.)

Ouch. Make the nostalgia stop!
The nostalgia! It burrrrns....

(Nostalgic) Signs of the Apocalypse

This week is off to a great start! Hell froze over, didn't it? The stock market crashed... and "The Man from Uncle" is now on Netflix.

Well, maybe there's hope... it's only the first season. ;-)

BTW, Scalzi is not a vampire... he's full of SmartBlood(tm).
His role expanded in subsequent episodes - I think they came to realise just how good Mantegna's comic timing is. It may have been the foundation of his career rather than otherwise.

And dammit, you're making me want to put down this copy of Undertow and watch Airheads again...
It's amazing how many really good actors came out of that show.
First roles are often quite... interesting

Alfred Molina's first screen role was Satipo "you throw me the idol, i throw you the whip" in Raiders...
