My state just joined the civilized world.

HARTFORD, Connecticut - Connecticut's Supreme Court ruled Friday that same-sex couples have the right to marry, making that state the third behind Massachusetts and California to legalize such unions.

The court ruled 4-3 that gay and lesbian couples cannot be denied the freedom to marry under the state constitution, and Connecticut's civil unions law does not provide those couples with the same rights as heterosexual couples.

This is great news! It gives me a bit of hope for the future (although I know my state will be one of the last to move into this century).
About damn time.

Wanna hit the rally at the Capitol at 5:30?
I'm busy tonight.
AWESOME! I needed some good news today.
I applaud them, but for political reasons wish they had waited until November 5 to make the ruling.
I think there must be times when one ought, for the greater good, to procrastinate on doing the right thing.

But there are also times when doing the right thing, without regard for the cost, *is* the greater good.

Before or after, there would always be a political cost. There always is. But it's still the right thing, and it is very good indeed.
Wow!! Very cool. Yay for my state!!

Here's hoping that California's Prop 8 doesn't turn out to be the yin to this yang. :}
WOO HOO!

About time.
HOORAY!
FANFRIKKINTASTIC!!

*does a happy dance of happy*
3 down and 47 to go. And I bet Texas will be number 47 or 48. *grumble*
Hooray!!!

I'm not actually sure if this is good or bad for the November election in Connecticut. But it's certainly good in and of itself.
w00t!
Unfortunately, both of us live in the Bible Belt where this sort of thing is seen as a sign of the Apollo Eclipse.
Well, now, that's a lovely thing.
YES!!!!!!!!
Woo-hoo! I love my state all over again.
I'm super happy!

Do you know if we're having the same statute as NY with the marriage being applicable beyond state borders?
