last night i had the strangest dream--

Apparently, a side effect of the climbing and running is that my body demands rather more sleep than it used to. So for a good part of this process, I think my brain is in much lighter sleep than it used to be when I was just shutting off for five or six hours a night.

Anyway, this morning my alarm and the garbage truck woke me from a dream about taking an impromptu road trip with ellen_datlow and fastfwd to Martha's Vineyard. I had been sitting on a trailer behind my car in a traffic jam reading, and they picked me up. And then later I was worried that I couldn't find my car, and I remembered I had left it on the other side of the ferry.

There was some other stuff, too, including carnival wagons, but I've mostly forgotten it.

Explains why I was surprised a while back to read how little sleep you were needing. I've been rowing since I was 23, so for quite a while now.
I've always been a short sleeper, five or so hours a night. When I'm exercising heavily, I edge up into the range that most people seem to consider minimal-- ~7 hours a night, but it's not very deep sleep, and it takes me forever to drop off because my brain isn't tired.

and you said you had to get your laundry cleaned

That's going to be stuck in my head all day now, thanks. Luckily, I always liked it. :)

Re: and you said you had to get your laundry cleaned

"...and coming up on the left is the view of Nantucket. In the early 20th century, it was traditional for residents of the Vineyard to stand here with their backs to the other island and, as the sun rose, drop their trousers in salute to what they perceived as their neighbors' snobby attitude. Residents of Nantucket claimed they never noticed, although the regular TP'ing of the surrounding trees at night by masked pranskters who made their getaway in a canoe would seem to give the lie to this..."
