Heh. My current playlist is not dissimilar. But you need Merry Christmas from the Family by Robert Earl Keen! (Or the Montgomery Gentry version, which is also good...)
I like REK, but I do not know that song.
As the member of a large and sprawling Southern family, it may resonate with me more than it would with you, but it's funny anyway:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P37xPiRz1sg

It's been covered by everyone from Jill Sobule to the Dixie Chicks...
Hee. Okay, that has a lot of amusement value.
I'm sensing a theme here. . .
when will i know that i really can't go to the well one more time?

When you are no longer you, you will no longer go to the well ;)

(That was easy, Roshi! What else you got?)

Good to see some Emmylou Harris, Jethro Tull, and Chieftains in there - I was listening to our Jethro Tull CD just yesterday, thinking it isn't Christmassy until the music is out from its box under the stairs.

How did the cleaning go?

- Chief
(sorry no LJ)
If you're looking for something to bop around the house cleaning to, you need to find yourself a copy of Jill Sobule's "Jesus Was A Dreidel Spinner". Hardcore klezmer that'll make you ROTFL.

Jesus was a dreidel spinner
And this we can't forget
Paul was Saul before he was Paul and the last supper was a seder

Jesus was a dreidel spinner
And all his disciples were too
So all you Christians remember
Your Lord was a Jew

... and so on.

Re: the most -- won-der-ful time -- of -- the year!

mwahahaha
Er... I'm not sure either Hedningarna really fits... (Thunder God sounds like winter. But Pornopolka?)

That said, most of the ones I know sound like a good thing to listen to about now.
If one likes Hedningarna, Värttinä might also appeal. (I saw them perform live on Friday. Very good stuff.)
Oh, absolutely. Värttinä are the ones who got me into the rest of the Nordic music; they played the Winnipeg Folk Festival 25th anniversary. I was sold on the spot. (I'm also of sufficiently Finnish heritage to have used Kylä Vuotti Uutta Kuuta as the first dance at my wedding without feeling like it was inappropriate).

Sigh.... that concert was ten years ago, alas. I really want to see them again.
Well, you don't have to come to my place for the holidays. *g*
*Glances at wintery playlist again*
*Glances at cd player, which is currently playing Loituma, and at the Hedningarna CDs I just put away from playing them Thursday.*
*Looks over Bear.*

Something tells me a holiday party at your place would ROCK.

The comment wasn't meant to be a criticism, just an observation that "One of these things is not like the others".

(Unless your holiday parties tend to raise the lust till it's a raving...)
49. Gordon Lightfoot - Song For A Winter's Night (3:02)

Is there any chance I could get this song from you?
