Accomplished so far today:

1) 2008 year-in-entertainment review for Green Man Review
1) Short story betaread for truepennyStill to go--thank you notes and return crits on the orkshop, because people have been nice enough to review the rough draft of the snow dragons.

And maybe some work on the harpy, if I can figure out how it goes. I'd like to cross another one off my to-do list.

Some of you will be pleased to note that last night, I wrote the first sentence of An Apprentice to Elves, and truepenny wrote the second one. Still no promises, mind you, and it's not going on any to-do lists. But there is a file with two sentences in it.

Pleased? Does not even *begin* to cover it. *g*
This one will probably fail to reach the core demographic for the first book, alas, as it looks like it will be completely devoid of gay porn.

Sell some books before I starve

You know, I can think of a hypothetical, unpromised, not-on-any-to-do-lists book that might be able to handle some of that. And it's even partly written already! :)
The problem with collaborations is they're more work than a single-author volume, and they pay less. Anything Sarah and I do together is a labor of love, chipped out of spare time we could be doing things like spending with our families.

(And there's no guarantee that Tor (or anybody else) would buy it.)

Alphonso mangoes, to be exact. Nom.
I have a fondness for the champagne mangoes.

Mmm.
Having grown up in a house with a (very small) persimmon grove on the property, I can assure you that when the ripe persimmons hit the ground, they attract all sorts of small furry creatures that can then become fox chow. They also attract yellow jackets, but those are the breaks.

Of course, these were old-fashioned hillbilly persimmons, and not one of the elegant Asian varieties, but I imagine the same thing would happen.
No blue-tailed flies?

Huzzah!!!
I can't explain why I picked persimmons, but a lot of folks seem to agree with me. Curious.
local pomegranates are one of the very few things I miss about Vegas.

They are my favorite food. Or in the top five, anyway. Cheddar cheese and chocolate brownies are up there too.

Some kind soul gifted me with B&N money so I am now totally not patiently waiting for them to send me ACTW and All the Windwracked Stars. Because it would be A Bad Thing if the cat ate you.
Woot!

Well, at least that would hold her for a week or two, and somebody would probably come to do a welfare check by then....
Huzzah for Apprentice to Elves!

(And, while the gay porn was very nice, I enjoyed ACtW most for the Norse fantasy and the wolves that acted like wolves, albeit pretty bright ones in the cases of Vigdis and Viradechtis, and generally being a cool story. Plus, I want to know more about the elves.)
I want to know what a grove of tickies looks like!
