spies mfu illya all wet

in the morning when the morning bird sings there's still dinner on my dinner jacket

Whew. Took most of the day, by the one-sentence-at-a-time method, but I got 2002 words of mermaid story today. It still has no title, but now it has a Robert Frost joke, and that's almost better than a title, really. I've got sixteen pages of this thing, and I suspect there are two or three more days of work in the draft. Ahh, the good old days, when I'd sit down and burn through a short story draft in a couple of days. Then I learned to write, and now everything takes forever.

Apparently, this one wants to be written to "Anonanimal," off the new Andrew Bird album, and who am I to argue? I keep hoping it will grab me by the throat and force itself to be written in a blaze of inspiration, but so far it's been the hard painstaking kind of writing. Anyway, I just got to the lesbian mermaid smut, which tells me that stillsostrange really was the intended recipient of this story pod, and since I have a good wordcount for the day and it's not like I'm on fire here, I'm going to cash it in now and eat dinner and watch Good Eats and Mythbusters and stuff.

I am (a) hungry and (b) yawny and (c) worked virtuously all damned day. The guilt gorilla is cordially invited to bugger off.

Oh, that is pain I feel. So much.

I would totally go back to needing to do 12 revisions to get a readable draft for the benefit of that 'three-session story' joy. Or at least I think I would, until I go back and read one of those stories and then one of the things I'm working on now.

Also, hooray for lesbian mermaid smut! Or really, any manner of smut.
Y'know, even if it proves to be genuinely unsalable, I hope you'll give us the opportunity to read this one somehow.

That ought to be up in lights somewhere. Really.
Oo, what is the one sentence at a time method? (I mean, is there anything to it besides the obvious?)
It's not a method so much as a painfully slow gravel through the stupid story when it doesn't want to let itself be written.
Alas. Appositely, however, there is Mythbusters.
Good choice.
And now there is only CM rerun. I am full of woez. Full.

I am also full of woez. I had this nice shiny new animated icon that I was going to debut tonight, assuming of course that matociquala did her usual wonderful job of reviewing the new CM ep. But there is no new CM ep and thus no usual wonderful review.

So I'll just have to show off my nice shiny new animated icon anyway.
Aaaaugh, now that song is stuck on repeat in my brain! Good song, but after the bazillionth time through it's grating a bit.
I think you have fully banished my earworm, thanks! Now I have "I don't want a pizza I don't want a piece of peanut brittle wouldn't like a beef or a beer or a cup of cheddar corn pie I'm saving my appetite cause I'm waiting for the dinner bell to ring." Etc. (I think that's not quite the way they sing it, but it's the way the inside of my head sings it.) Thanks!
I live to serve. *g*
