food, glorious food

Yesterday, I started the garden. I turned over about four by three feet of earth (the finished garden will be about twelve by three), amended the soil, and planted red leaf lettuce, green oak leaf lettuce, collards, broccoli, leeks, heirloom sweet peas, heirloom beets, carrots, radishes, flat leaf parsley, and arugula.

Tomorrow, I will be starting the tomatoes (late, I know, but such is life) and planting the morning glories I want to grow along the fence. I may also turn over some more earth, though I'm not planting it yet. Eventually, another portion of the fence will have buttercup and crookneck squash, and more peas, and the rest of the garden will contain tomatoes, sweet corn, thyme, basil, dill, nasturtiums, muskmelons, rosa bianca eggplant, and many other yummy things.

Yay!
