Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn

Massive cephalopod beachings in California.

Masses of oceanic protoplasm in the Arctic. (Shoggoth killed by global warming?)

...R'lyeh is supposed to be in the Atlantic, right?

... Oh dear.
Well, yeah, but the *north* Atlantic...

Should not have kept talking about that story . . .

The whole guns and safari thing.

They don't like being mocked.
That's my understanding as well.

Ia! Ia!

Word is that Our Cephalopodic Masters are working their way north to the Oregon coast.
Just need to hit De Culina Mysteriis for a good cthalamari recipe. Need to eat as many of them as possible before we are all devoured!
I like this theory. Mmmmmm. Cthalamari. And civet chocolate for afters.
The Illuminati coverup story is that it’s algae.
Shh. Quit messing with my denia... IA! IA!
God dammit. I neither felt that earthquake, nor saw any of those squids!

Also, the stuff in Alaska looks to me like generic pelagic mammal rot juice. Maybe this poor old critter finally got tired of looking and shuffled off.

Playing along...

If Shoggoth did exist and has proven vulnerable to climate derangement, then we may have successfully defended ourselves for the first time against these things, yes?

Re: Playing along...

I think they and the Great Old Ones prefer hotter climes; we're helping set the conditions to bring them back. =)
This part made me laugh:

"It's definitely, by the smell and the makeup of it, it's some sort of naturally occurring organic or otherwise marine organism."

I am smitten with the idea of organic or otherwise organism.
How do the minions rise up, rise up?
How do the minions rise up, high?
All of the minions ooze up, ooze up
All of the minions ooze up high
How do the minions rise up, rise up?
How do the minions rise up, high?
All of the minions rise beaks up, beaks up,
All of the minions rise beaks up, high...
My vote is for otherwise
I guess it's time for me to mount the forbidding ramparts of Koobikal Hel and ensure that the tip cauldrons for boiling vinegar are kept well-fuelled.

-- Steve's also wondering if trident-tips are appropriate for the ballista bolts or if traditional broadheads would be preferable.

PS: please, someone stop me before I ramble on about the merits of an anti-gastropodic gastraphetes...
Humboldt squids are mean bastards. :| They did a 'Monster Hunter' episode about them that was pretty neat.
