Climber girls are awesome.

Amazing climber photos from a competition in Montreal.

OMG. I wanna be her when I grow up.

OMG DYNO!

eeee.

OMFG.

Also, what the devil am I looking at in the second one? Did she just leap, slip, or is there a blatant violation of the law of gravity going on?
It's called a dyno. She's jumping. Sort of. Full body jump. *g*
Holy fucking shit.
ok, now I feel inadeqaute :)
And here I thought dancers were the most beautiful movers in the world.
Climbers are beautiful in a very different way. The best ones have the same kind of perfect balance and control, but they tend to move more like sloths than dancers. *g*
Except for when they're jumping like cats, yes.
More like gibbons. *g* We swing around more than cats do.
Hee!
Yes? *looks about* Oh, sorry.
I looked through a bit of that second Flickr set. I'd just like to point out that much of what's shown in the photos is clearly impossible :-). (of course, I'm having to judge vertical from the POV of a casually hand-held camera, but I'm guessing the wall itself is vertical.)
It may in fact be somewhat overhung. *g*
Oh, wow.
Last Christmas, I happened to meet a lady who used to be a leading free climber. She specialised in the Andes. An extraordinary person with courage that was beyond what I find believable.
Eeeeee.

What are those odd points on both shoulders? I was wondering if they were the artifacts of previously-separated collar bones, but then I realized if that were the case, she probably wouldn't be able to hang enough weight on her shoulders to look like that :)

Montreal

Hi folks!
I'm glad you enjoyed the pics from Montreal last year. I'll be shooting at the Nationals again this year in Toronto. It is very amazing watching all the climbers in the competition. They are very talented.
I'll be posting more pictures on Flickr next week. Use the links above to see them.

(Our youngest, Ian is competing again this year.)
