The dog is brushed.

See, I told the guys we should get actual Hero of the Revolution medals to hand out. (Foil-wrapped chocolate, some with caramel in and some with nuts.)
The dog needs a liver one... *g*
Yay!
Huzzah!
Excellent. You both serves a big drink.
Now somewhere a DHS analyst is cross-checking "the dog is brushed" against known activation codes...

:)
DHS, CSE, CSIS, FSB...the list goes on. :-)
Congratulations.
You may now rest.
Whew!
Now it's time to start again, is it?

The Forth Rail Bridge is famous for always being in the process of being painted -- by the time the painters finished at the far end it was time to start again at the beginning again. Technology has now provided a solution, a coating that will last pretty much as long as the bridge does. I don't know if technology has a solution for GRDs though.

Have you considered power tools?
Hurrah!

Is this the point where he goes out, gets soaking wet and rolls in something icky so you have to start all over again?
Epic brushing! Is the GRD as relieved to be done as you are?
MOAR.
Yay! Are there before and after pictures?
There's no much visible difference. *g*
Now *that's* scary! :)
You are mighty. How long will it take before he once more transitions from brushed to unbrushed? Or is it possible to keep him in this state?

(I don't have this particular problem with the cats because they're both short-haired, but it does make me think of the litter box. No matter how clean the box is at any given moment, it always seems to need cleaning again as soon as I take my eyes away from it.)
Well, until the next time he blows his entire undercoat, the usual maintenance brushing should suffice.

Have you stuffed a nice pillow for PC? She might like that.
You are mighty.
