There's an obvious historical analogy -- the millions of Germans who fled the Russian advance into Germany, or were driven out of East Prussia by the Russians and Poles. They of course endured far worse than have the Iraqis. A significant number of them wound up in America, as "war brides" or their relatives. Like the Iraqi civilians, they were displaced by the fall of an evil regime, and wound up suffering the consequences despite the fact that they were not exactly responsible for that regime's excesses.
