I will get to the end of chapter 13 today.

After that, only chapter 14 remains.

And I will have completed the insane deadline schedule that was 2010, with something like 340,000 words of fiction written.

I mean, I still have some other stuff to do--some Shadow Unit, some book reviews, a short story I should have said no to but sometimes I'm a sucker.

Oh, and I'll have to get to work on a book proposal for my proposed alter ego, whoever she winds up being.

Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

Part of the problem with writing the end of this book is that I'm already writing the second draft in my head. You know. But I have to write it before I can rewrite it, and here we go.

My god, that is kind of incredibly impressive. Congrats!
Almost there!
The thing with writing the second draft before you finish the first -- yes. I'm still trying to figure out how to deal with it, because that wasn't my original writing process, and I don't know how this new process works yet. Sometimes I think it would be better to finish the draft and then fix things, but sometimes that would just mean writing something I know is wrong, which seems a waste of time.
My drafts now tend to evolve in layers. It's very nonlinear. I tried to do linear and was a year late.

Gave that up then.
That's why I keep having to backtrack while also moving forward: because I set myself these deadlines without realizing I'm going to have to write 30% more book than I will actually use, and so I have a choice between working both ends at once, or turning the book in late. And since I have a gibbering phobia of blowing a deadline, well. This is how we end up with work schedules that go something like "revise 5K and write 2K every day for the next month."

I missed something

Will it be a secret alter ego, or a writing in different genres alter ego?

ne'er mind!

I finally read far back enough.

Meh upon them.
