Stolen from Jeremy...

God Bless You, Mr. Vonnegut.

Kurt Vonnegut on current events.

If anyone outside my immediate family is responsible for me being a writer, I'd have to say that it's probably Kurt Vonnegut. The man remains--at eighty--humane, generous of spirit, and bitingly funny. I've been reading his books since grade school (my mother, thank God, has an odd sense of what constitutes YA reading) and I think they have in many ways shaped my perception of the sad, wonderful, outrageously brave creature that is the human species.

Thank you, sir, for staying you. I'm sorry the world is ridiculous enough that you have had to, but I'm grateful for your rare good sense nonetheless.
