Irony, the Magpie Mind, and Great Artists

"Good artists are influenced; great artists steal." (attr. Samuel Clemens)

"Immature poets imitate. Mature poets steal." (T. S. Eliot)

"Immature artists imitate. Mature artists steal." (Lionel Trilling)

"Immature artists copy. Mature artists steal." (Picasso)

In any case, it's obviously true in light of the evidence, wouldn't you say?

Mmmm.

I had a very five year old kind of a lunch today. A white peach, half a cucumber, a hot dog with cheddar cheese, and a big glass of chocolate milk.

I am now wallowing in contentment, except the headache.

Am celebrating my vacation by critiquing stories on the workshop. Which isn't much of a vacation, but I'm close to 700 critiques since they started keeping track, so probably over a thousand lifetime. And yes, I do learn more from critiquing the stories of others than from having my own critiqued.

I think I will have a glass of fine Chateau Neuf de Boit, which I bought for marinating steaks (I am a whisky connosieur, a beer afficionado, and a wine heathen) and go critique tanaise's story.
