Fletcher Rocks!

"Brush up on your.... Fletcher" courtesy of riba_rambles.

I have a deep-seated affection for John Fletcher. Any proletarian working writer has to admire an honest hack.

And this little news item has cheered me immeasurably, this morning. It's always reassuring when historical people we've fictionalized live up to our preconceptions about them. It's more distressing when they shatter them.

I've come up with a good visualization trick that might be worth sharing. I'm currently working on turning a single-POV book into a three-POV book (ugh, hatchetwork. Back into the swamp with the leeches, Bogey!) and I've come up with the idea of doing each of the POVs in a separate color. Since I use MacroSloth Word, it's easy enough to set each up as a separate style.

What's very neat about this is that I can now scroll through my document and--on fast forward--get an idea of what the balance of POVs is in any given section.

Then, when I'm ready to print, I just highlight the whole document and set the text to 'black' right before I push the button.

Very handy, that. Thought it might be a useful tip for somebody.

Reason for stopping: wrist hurts, up to point where I must write the next insert scene, and must go grocery shopping for gathering tonight. But progress is being made again.
