ooo. lookit all those sixes.

Hey, that is two thirds of a book! Which means that the feeling of accelerating impending impact I seem to be developing has come along right on schedule.

Reason for stopping: errands!
Mammalian Assistance: none. alas. alack.
Stimulants: some lovely white wine that mirrorthaw handed me
Exercise: a long stroll around Madison
Mail: Worldwired ARCs. Which kit_kindred tells me are pretty, but I have not yet seen. However, the cover is up at the Random House Website, and there's an excerpt from Scardown on Amazon.com. I wish I had cover-Jenny's boot collection. Just saying. *g*
Today's words Word don't know:  undergrad
Tyop du jour: n/a
Darling du jour: At least Marlowe had ditched his wings in Hell.
Books in progress: Chris Moriarty, Spin State
Interesting research tidbits of the day: none
Other writing-related work: none

Oh, and it looks like I've been added to a panel at WisCon: "Is Everything Interstitial?" on Sunday, from 1 to 2:15, with Ysabeau Wilce, Jason Erik Lundberg, and Mary Anne Mohanraj. (hi, jlundberg! *waves*)

I suspect I'm there as the Devil's advocate, but it should be fun, I think, considering the cast and crew.

Reason for stopping: quota and then some. And this is another chapter-long scene, so no point in wearing myself out pushing and pushing and pushing for the end.
Mammalian Assistance: watching truepenny play with  felinoids
Stimulants: a Sprecher's root beer
Exercise: um. pretty much an exercise-free day, this was.

I'm actually really honestly to the part where the pieces are on the board ,and in their positions, and it's time for the revelations and the reactions to start snowballing. This is incredibly exciting for me; I love this bit. Now it's just scramble scramble scramble to get to the end.

Of course, I've just gotten to a bit I was really looking forward to writing, and... I probably won't get to write it until next week, because WisCon has arrived. Wheee! So, four days off--possibly five, if I need Tuesday as a recovery day from the convention. Plenty of time to let my brain recharge before I go sailing into the final conflict.

I was just thinking to myself, I may wrap this up in less than 160K after all. But then I realized that I always feel this way when I get to this part of the book, because the rush to the end seems like it should take less time than it does--but there's still murders, betrayals, seductions, open warfare, reversals of fortune and a conference call to get out of the way, so it probably will come in right where I planned it to.

However, if I'm really lucky, I might get it out of the way before SFRA at the end of June.

That would rock. Then I can take a week or three to soak my head and get the draft of Carnival underway in July, which means I might have it finished by moving time.

This could happen. This could possibly work.
