Mark Watson of Best SF reviews Interzone 201 (spoilers abound), and apparently I didn't manage to clue him in that "Wax" is magical alternate history set in 1901 or so, where the city's name hasn't been changed, and not urban fantasy set circa 1650. So, yeah, his impression of a pseudoVictorian milieu is spot on. In my defense, a revolver and a steamship are mentioned on the first page of the story.

Otherwise, though, I guess I did all right by him. Ah well, can't win 'em all.

In better news (for me, anyway) I've finally managed to impress Rich Horton, as he named the same story briefly in his Interzone 2005 round up. He also gives tar_pith a nice plug.

Also, I got paid for a couple of things, which is nice.

Other writing-related work: I would have gotten more words, but I heard back from Liz on the Whiskey and Water edits, and had to go over chapter 28 one more time. But, frankly, I was looking for an excuse.

YES! YES! YES!

deannahoak, tanaise, I know you've been waiting with bated breath.

The 2005 Bad Sex list is out.

And again, I'm not on it.

Ah well, there's always The Stratford Man...

Some big names this year. So to speak.

Fizz screamed silently through it all - through gritted teeth, through wide-open mouth - and only those who have known a woman screaming silently in orgasm know how loud it is. It ripped through the room and set me to pounding frenzies.
