I'm not a coward. I've just never been tested.

Progress notes for 14 July 2006:

"The Rest of your Life in a Day."

New Words:  1773
Total Words: 3708
Pages: 15
Deadline: After most of the other things I'm supposed to be working on.
Reason for stopping: sleepy. two more scenes to write.

Stimulants:  applesauce
Exercise: none
Mail:

Eagle's Path completes the set with a Worldwired review.

Mean Things: I made Matthew drink a Coors.
Tyop du jour: He winched in pain.
Darling du jour:  A couple dozen East Coast Magi stood around the lobby, chatting amongst themselves and snacking on crudités and canapés, because everything tastes better in French.
There's always one more quirk in the character: He actually drank that Coors. He's tougher than I thought.

Other writing-related work: Two chapters for truepenny
Books in progress: Martin Cruz Smith, Stallion Gate; Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice;

Hmm. I should go to the gym tomorrow. Or at least for a bike ride, and the gym on Sunday. And other than that, I should do a whole buttload of work.

Specifically:

Carnival proofreader queries
"Sonny Liston Takes The Fall" readover
finish "The Rest of your Life in One Day"
get some work done on "Limerent" and maybe "War Stories."

I think I'm going to ignore Undertow until after ComiCon. I cannot face that ugly thing yet. Fortunately, I think it's just the last 100 pages that need me, as the rest is, well, about a fourth or fifth draft by now.

Progress notes for 15 July 2006:

"The Rest of your Life in a Day."

New Words:  6072
Total Words: 10,250 (another damned novelette)
Pages: 41
Reason for stopping: done with the draft

This may be self-fanfic. I'm not sure. It's always hard to tell with backstory stories if they stand on their own.

Stimulants:  peach tea
Exercise: none. But I may up and go to the gym now.
Mail: nomail
Today's words Word don't know: nubby, gracile, piskie, widdershins, piskie, pavanne
Words I'm surprised Word do know: caryatid

Mean Things: cursing, ensorcelment, ravishment-by-faeries, burning people's feet off by making them dance on hot coals, the usual.
Darling du jour:  As he tore open the green paper package of Quaker oatmeal, the sound echoed through a silent hall.
Jerry-rigging: Man, trying to get the three-challenges thing into narrative without it going all stiff is not easy. But a little crisco and a twist of the wrist, and--
There's always one more quirk in the character: Man, that Faerie Queen can curse like a sailor.

Other writing-related work: Sonny Liston comes off the checklist. After the gym, I will do the proofreader queries on Carnival.
Books in progress: Martin Cruz Smith, Stallion Gate; Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice;
