criminal minds hotch save your life

Those who live by the phone, shall die by the phone.

Keep those cards and letters coming!

Also, Criminal Minds fandom is taking up a collection for crew members of the show (which is to say, the guys* who work paycheck to paycheck and do the hard unglamorous bits, and who are not on strike, but who can't work without shows in production) affected by the strike. Information on how to donate here.

Suggested donation is $2.00; all monies will be distributed anonymously.

It's not a bad idea for other fandoms to set up a similar fund, I think.

*I'm a Yankee. "Guys" is gender-non-specific up here.

"GET YER TROUSERS ON, SONNY BOY! YOU'RE NICKED!"

Hal Duncan takes on  the Zemeckis Beowulf.

Do yourself a favor and put your coffee down first.

Today, in the Glamourous Life Of a Writer, I have Cleaned the Entire Apartment. Thoroughly. Laundry still needs to be folded and pies still need to be made, however, and tomorrow I have to read this book I might be blurbing.

I suspect no actual work is getting done until Sunday, dammit.
muppetology cooking Bork! Bork! Bork!

mmm. pah.

Well, at least based on the sample cinnamon pinwheel (which was made of twice-worked-over leftover pie crust) the vodka pie crust is a resounding success.

What I did:

my standard pie crust, which is to say:

2 cups flour
1/3rd cup Crisco
1/3rd cup frozen butter
1 tsp kosher salt
Ice water to make sticky (2-5 tbsp.)

except I used vodka for 50% of the fluid.

I can't vouch for the pie yet, but the leftovers, rolled up with cinnamon and brown sugar, were amazingly good.
