she went down to a tailor shop and dressed in men's array

Ooof. Only got a thousand words today, but that actually turns out to be a significant chunk of change, given the amount of other stuff my day involved.

Every bit gets us closer to a draft, even if an actual sentence I wrote today goes as follows:

The old ways--the old respect--it might no longer be enforced with terror, but enough of it lingered that he did not entirely [blah blah blah he holds out some creepy droit de seignure hope for humanity].

Yeah, I'll figure it out later. Apparently, as I get more comfortable with this professional writer on closed course thing, I also embrace It's a draft it can suck with absolutely preternatural enthusiasm.

Besides, I'm just going to rewrite it anyway. Probably close to twenty times. It'll be fine by the time you see it.

...oh, wait, I just showed it to you, didn't I?

Well, you'll be stunned by the makeover transformation. I promise you. Because I got on paper what I meant: I can make it pretty later.

i got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black

Dear Diary:

TODAY, the monkey got up and took me for a walk, and that was nice except she wouldn't let me chase the squirrels and they were FAT and EVERYWHERE and then she left WITHOUT ME, and THEN she came back and then gave me breakfast and a sardine and then left again and then came back and THEN there was a Bonus Monkey and I brought her a stuffie and and and I got HAM and a piece of cheese and sat on the couch with the regular monkey and guarded the Kitty Door until the Bonus Monkey left and after that the other regular monkey came home and then ANOTHER Bonus Monkey came and we went for another walk and THERE WAS A DEAD SQUIRREL RIGHT THERE IN THE ROAD like a MEAT STUFFIE

THEY CAN DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...she wouldn't let me have that either.

But then we came home and had pizza.

Love, Ace
