welcome to my space ship. you're beautiful forever.

Daily Commute March 2 2011 002

Tea Today: Teavana Gyokuro Imperial. It's reasonably nice--grassy and a little pungent--but I'm really coming to the opinion that Teavana is Marketing 10, Tea 3*. My roomie likes it, though.

OTOH, I also have a chocolate-covered coconut candy from Divine Treasures, which makes up for a lot.

Teacup today: covered cup thecoughlin brought me from scenic Korea

My goal for this morning is to get some traction on rearranging the front bits of "REZ" into something that will carry the weight of the rest of the novella. I'm still trying to figure out a significant chunk of the plot--the antag's motivation.

No exercise today. Trying to go easy on the last lingering remnants of this cold and a sore deltoid. La.

All right, off to the word mines.

*Oh, about that earworm? Sorry. :-\

the band is awful and so are the tunes

There's a good deal of amusement value to be had in the fact that I'm going back through this story and putting in pronouns, which means I have to decide what gender everybody is. I love the no-pronouns stuntwriting trick, as readers of the Jacob's Ladder books will no doubt know, but it's actually distracting in the context of this story. I'll save it for when it's thematically useful, rather than just a great flashy stunt.

(One of the signs of maturity in a writer is choosing not to do something just because you can, I fear. Or possibly, like most allegedly mature wisdom, it's a sign of being too tired.)

Meanwhile, I have about 2,000 words for today, and I think my plan for now until Friday is to churn away at this thing and get as much done as I can. Grim determination may suffice where inspiration fails.

In other news, art for the Drabblecast release of "Boojum" on the artist's feed here.

Daily Commute March 2 2011

Two teamugs today. Second one is Tigger! Because I need the moral support.
And the second tea is Carribean Blue Lady. (It's actually the third tea: there was also Kusmi's Prince Vladimir.)

Meanwhile, back in Bendal-Dolum, I am grinding away at "REZ." I have 2600 words, and am hoping to make 3K before I quit to be pissed off about Paget Brewster's second-to-last Criminal Minds episode. The good news is, I have something between a quarter and third of a novella here, and plans to hack away at it tomorrow and Friday with minimal interruptions.

I do not actually feel like writing, but by God, I feel like finishing.

Because nobody ever gets to read the stories that don't get finished, and then what good are they to anyone?

Forgot to practice guitar today. Too busy beating my head against the word mines. Maybe a day or two off will do me good.
