Temur pushed unleavened bread through salted oil, but hesitated with the dripping scrap poised over his plate.

Some people are linear. And some people are me.

2000 words on Shattered Pillars today, which is conveniently double the day's quota. I don't want to jinx myself, but I'm noticing more luck in getting into the zone--the fictional dream--with this book than I have had for a long time. Some bits just flow, and have that spark and loft that I've been having to manufacture through sheer cussedness lately.

I hope I can get back some of the ease and fluidity with which I used to write. This has been very hard work for a very long time now.
