NOTICE! The pocket program has me listed for two Monday program items. I will not be at those items, because I will be on an airplane.

Fantastic London

Thursday 2:00 - 3:00

London has inspired many fantasy writers, and continues to do so. Cornell, Bear, Willis, Doctorow, Kowal... What is it that intrigues us?

Gary K. Wolfe (M), Paul Cornell, David Liss, Elizabeth Bear, Gail Carriger

Escape the Earth! Science Fiction @ SAPL 3

Thursday 4:00 - 5:30 (This is at a library, not the convention proper)

Authors read their work and discuss their careers in science fiction at this special event at the San Antonio Public Library.

My Favorite Dinosaur

Friday 12:00 - 1:00

Apatosaurus, Godzillasuarus, Stegasaurus, Sue, Albertasaurus, Triceratops, Gertie, Pteranodon, Velociraptor, or Barney: there are so many choices. What is your favorite dinosaur? Do we really need Apatosaurus, Supersaurus, and Ultrasaurus or is Brontosaurus good enough?

Bryan T. Schmidt (M), Elizabeth Bear, Takayuki Tatsumi , Spring Schoenhuth, G. David Nordley

Friday 6:00-7:00 pm

Keeping Control of a Long Series

Friday 9:00 - 10:00 pm

So many participants, so many events, written over so many years -- is writing a long series more like wrestling a snake than writing a single volume novel?

Reading: Elizabeth Bear

Writing Combat

Saturday 5:00 - 6:00

How do you integrate combat into your writing? How do you make it believable? At what point do you reach a state of Too Much Information? How do different audiences affect your style? A look at writing fight scenes, from personal fisticuffs to fleet engagements and everything in between.

Elizabeth Moon (M), Elizabeth Bear, Martha Wells, Jean Johnson, Lois McMaster Bujold

Ernie's Pub: Drinks with Writers

Saturday 7:00 pm

The Future Two Hundred Years Out

Sunday 11:00 - 12:00 am

It's a difficult distance from the present, but a very appealing one for science fiction. What do we think it will be like?

Kim Stanley Robinson (M), Joe Haldeman, Elizabeth Bear, Sheila Williams

When will Zombies Die?

Sunday 2:00 - 3:00

A little over forty years ago, George A. Romero changed the nature of zombies with his low-budget breakthrough film, Night of the Living Dead. Since then zombies, combining visceral horror and social commentary, have shambled into the mainstream. We've had zombie horrors, zombie comedies, and zombie graphic novels. Zombie walks have become regular events in many communities, and AMC runs a prestige zombie television show. Why are zombies so popular? Have we reached a saturation point? Will zombies ever shuffle off their immortal coil?

Seanan McGuire (M), Elizabeth Bear, Adam Troy Castro, Charlaine Harris

Hugo Award Ceremony

Sunday 8:00 PM

I love the all-female panel on combat. :-)

And remember, if you're in the dealer's room and need a sit-down, come by my table.
It looks like a really good range of panels!

I'm super excited that it's only 1 week away!

Exclamation points!
Ah, WorldCon! I envy you the trip. I shall not be there myself this year, though I'm thinking about London in 2014.

When you see Paul Cornell, tell him your friend Janna really enjoyed London Falling and learned things about storytelling by reading it (which is absolutely true) (as if you'll remember). (Also tell him that I worship him from afar for his work on Doctor Who.) (OK, you can skip that last part.) Thanks in advance. :-)
Yay! There will be a Squeecast live recording! (I couldn't find it on the schedule and I was bummed.) Also... since neither of us will be around for your autograph session on Monday, when and where would be the best time to get my shiny new copy of Shattered Pillars signed? :D
Catch me after a panel?

Yeah, I dunno about this Monday programming thing. I'm not feeling a lot of confidence in this program, currently.
My favorite dinosaur (for better than fifty years now) is Brontosaurus -- and I don't give two weasel poots that they call him something else now. Just because you later realize you have the wrong head on, it's still pretty much the same saurian. :)

Oh, sad. You're one of only two writers I grabbed something to tote along in my luggage to get signed... without having the brains to check the schedule and realize you're not scheduled for an autograph session. Doh!

Is there any place in your schedule you wouldn't mind being ambushed by fans waving your books and screaming your name?
