stuff that actually works (an occasional series.)

TW: mild body horror. :-P

Well, I cut heck out of my left index finger yesterday (sliced a third of the way through the nail and got a good bit of meat, too. Poor knife control. Chaz would be disappointed in me.).

And I know I've mentioned it before, but these hydrocolloid bandages are a superior technology. Go on, stay on, keep wound clean and sealed. They even seem to mitigate the pain my keeping the wound closed and applying a little bit of pressure.

One just need to keep them dry and covered, so they don't abrade and get icky and snag at the edges, or melt off. I'm using a combination of vet-wrap and a nitrile glove, as-needed.

Guess I won't be going climbing tomorrow. D'oh.

Sorry to hear that you hurt yourself. Glad to hear of the bandages--was not familiar with them, and they look very handy to have around.

it's a wash -- bad thing (owie); good thing (bandage that works)

I've been quite fond of those bandages since they came out. We use them regularly in this household. SillyRabbit swears by them for blisters (band camp) and DaBoy is currently wearing one on his index finger -- he skinned his knuckle on a locker, and that's one of the worst knuckles to skin anyway, and then add that it's still winter enough that he needs gloves.....

Ouch. Those bandages look handy, though. Swift healing!
I endorse this product too, which was used when I had to get a suspicious mole removed.

BTW, sorry to read of your knife wound.
writing is very dangerous work...
The pen is mightier than the sword but not nearly as mighty as the kitchen knife?
Ow! Be nice to the Bear!

...cool bandaids, though.
Those look potentially very useful - especially as you imply that they will stay on bendy parts. Thanks for the rec, and sorry about the finger!

New look to the blog. I like it. Yes, please take good care of Bear. Hope the owie gets better very quickly and without complications.
Thanks! It had been... a long time since it changed. *g*
Chaz would merely commiserate. We're starting to run out of bandaids. I'm going to get some hydrocolloid bandages. Thanks for the rec.
tonight, I burned the heel of the same hand on the oven element.
