The long wait is most nearly done!

There's an excerpt of Karen Memory up at Tor.com. The book goes on sale February 3rd, and can already be pre-ordered from your favorite retailer.

I am looking forward to this book!!!!
Oooh, I'm excited for this!
As not-the-author but a great fan of these books, I recommend publication order, with the caveat that ONE-EYED JACK can be read any time. It might be tempting to read it first since it's a stand-alone, but I don't think it's a good introduction to the series.

I generally tell people to start with BLOOD AND IRON, and I've given away assorted copies to make this happen.

I adore I&S+H&E, but I don't think I would be so fond of them if I hadn't read B&I and W&W first.

Good advice, thank you! So I'll read W&W after B&I.
Bah. This totally didn't thread where I told it to, and me an accomplished weaver and all. Bad threading, bad!
Haha, it's OK <3 The more input the merrier!
I have a question about your Promethean Age book. I like reading series from the beginning and I can't seem to figure out which book I should read first? Any suggestions? Thank you so much!
The chronological order is

INK AND STEEL
HELL AND EARTH
BLOOD AND IRON
ONE-EYED JACK
WHISKEY AND WATER

The order they were written in is:

BLOOD AND IRON
ONE-EYED JACK
INK AND STEEL
HELL AND EARTH
WHISKEY AND WATER

The *publication* order is

BLOOD AND IRON
WHISKEY AND WATER
INK AND STEEL
HELL AND EARTH
ONE-EYED JACK

So I think you get to decide.

I would probably read the two sets of B&I and W&W and I&S and H&E in those orders, as they go together (I&S and H&E are actually two halves of one giant book.)

Clear as mud? :)
Well i have to say that I don't feel as bad for being confused, haha. This is helpful though, so I'll start with Blood and Iron. Thank you!!!!
Fantastic cover!!

Congrats on another pub.
This! That's one of the most beautiful covers I've seen in the past chronological year. (Calendar year seems like it's a bit less complimentary right now.)
That cover has already won its first award. *g* Cynthia Sheppard is a very new artist, and she's going to be a BFD.
Cool! How does a cover win an award before the book comes out? I guess publishers used to have a lot of sf/f covers around and they'd ask writers to write for them but this one looks at least somewhat specific to your book. OTOH obviously the art has to be ready before the book gets printed and shipped to stores, let alone sold.

The art was done for the book.
Thank you!

Yesssss. Pre-Orders

Fortunately, since I had already pre-ordered this a while back, this does NOT count toward my three months of Book Lent.

Part of it is to see if I can do it, part of it is to see if this will get me to read my backlog of purchased books (which were obviously interesting enough for me to purchase, just not to immediately start reading/devour,) and part of it is just to save a bit of money.

I've also mostly stopped going and getting a morning coffee at my local cafe.

Re: Yesssss. Pre-Orders

Hah! Yeah, I should go on a book diet.

BUT THEY'RE A TAX DEDUCTION.
Congratulations and I'm looking forward to it!
