Conflict

I like Cpolk's take. For me, that's exactly what drives plot, that sort of take on conflict. I like a plot that has balance though. Some of the conflict comes from the characters/characters interactions, desires, wants, and some from the series of events Chance describes. Like someone wanting desperately to get a promotion, after someone they hate gets fired unexpectedly, only to shot themselves in the foot by messing up the report the boss is waiting on. That seems closer to real life for me.
