frogs and painted ponies

We say a sneak preview of Hidalgo Monday night, which, you know. Horses. Omar Shariff with a sword. Viggo in cowboy boots and several cute boys with high cheekbones and interesting noses, including Peter Mensah with his shirt off a lot.

Verdict: good in an emotionally tidy, predictable, and not overly complicated Hollywood sort of a way.

And we finally saw The Triplets of Belleville last night, which I loved in a this-is-very-peculiar-smoking-banana-peels sort of way. It's the antiHollywood.

It's a movie that follows dream logic, if that makes any sense. Also, the dog is perfect. Perfect. I know that dog. This is not an anthropomorphized idealized dog.

This is a dog's dog.
