I have in my hot little hands the copy edited MS of Hammered, and it got delayed, so they need it back yesterday.

Remember all that stuff on my errands list for today?

Heh. Whups.

Exciting!

I mean, it's like a thing that happens to Novelists. And now it's happened to you.
They always do that. And they always expect the writer to pick up the slack. I use "they" very broadly here; I've had this happen with every publisher I've been with and some short-story anthologies. Someday I'm going to have a contract that specifies the amount of time that must be allowed for the copyedit to go through my hands, no excuses allowed, and they can't let the publication date slip, they just have to cope with it. Yeah right.

If you figure out how to manage that, let me know!

I'm just bloody lucky I found a purple pencil. I nearly had to go buy one :-P
Oh, I do assure you, if I figure out a way to manage that I will take out advertising time on the entire bloody MOON to proclaim exactly how for all the world to see, in six languages. After that I'd be both broke and on the run, but my Work Here would be Done.

The good news is, not only am I done (five hours concerted work, with a lunch break) but I am overjoyed with my copy editor.

Especially since I can't train myself not to use A.I. and AI interchangeably.

Thank you for the moral support....

...and now I'm thinking about the repercussions of selling advertising on the moon. Darn you!
Congratulations. I've loved even my really annoying copy editors. Because they always catch something embarrassing.

As for the advertising, I stole it from Clarke.

Oh! And I saw Steve last weekend, and he said you had some good news going on! He seemed really happy for you, glowy and bouncy.

Congrats!
