the cool thing about fantasy and science fiction

is the ability to externalize metaphors.

Nothing like being able to turn the drama queen character into an actual vampire as well as a spiritual one. Or to contrast, and let the vampire be the sane and helpful one in the bunch.

(Examples intentionally crude for clarity. You know what I mean.)

And yes, the reason for posting this is that I already have ideas about what twistedchick has commented on here amd koimistress has commented on here.

Sadly, sadly true. And as I continue to work on my own series about Thrush taking over the world,
I can actually watch it happening.

Lathe of Heaven and all that.
Half of the plot elements for the political satire I'd been outlining as Book 2 came true this year, and the political news has been entirely too bizarre to make credible fiction, even as satire.

This is why I stopped writing a space policy column - at a certain point you're just rendered speechless....
