So I slept two hours later than I normally do, paid bills, did the dishes, went to the bank, got my plane tickets squared away for the trip to Minneapolis and Toronto (eee. That was not cheap) and generally failed to do any writing at all for a good five hours this morning.

I think the fever may have cooked my brain.

Fortunately, I had words from last night and this afternoon to claim.

And I am joining Leah in invoking the Voodoo. Mekka lekka hai, mekka hiney ho.

Saturday is world juggling day (via tiggerbone). I actually do juggle. Poorly.

hal_duncan has a livejournal. and a kickass story up at Strange Horizons this week, . All y'all slash fans on my reading list will like that story, by the way. And it's nice to know I'm not the only pro writer around absconding with fanfiction tropes, stuffing them into my pockets with candystore abandon.

When are you coming to Minneapolis?

Convergence! I get in on the 30th of this month and fly to Toronto on the fifth. I would *love* to see you.
Psst, there's a coding error in the link to the Locus mentions! And yes, that was a very neat and slashy fanfic story there, indeed, thanks for the pointer. *g*
*g* It's profic, not fanfic. But yeah, I'm loving seeing the boundaries between the genres blurring.

And thanks for the correction!
It's profic, not fanfic.

Yes, right; sorry, I didn't add enough cues to make clear I was trying to make a joke. *g*
*g* I think the only defining differences in the way fans and pros remix and mashup (ignoring copyright issues) are target audience and barriers to publication. It's interesting to me, because in a lot of ways I think the easy access to fanfic on the internet is eroding oh, a hundred and fifty years of artificiality--this Romantic ideal of the lone artist and sole creator, which ignores the two million years of human creative storytelling before that.

But man is that a discussion for another time
Hah! It looks like my client somehow picked up the stuff I was cribbing from John's journal about the in n out burger. *g*
