Do note, there are a number of people behaving like twits in the comments. Don't blame Scott for their bad behavior, please.
I'm in sympathy with Scott, overall. I also think that it's polite for fans not to publish fanfiction based on the work of authors who are known to dislike it with this kind of intensity. All legal ramifications aside, it's the same level of courtesy as not taking photographs of people who you know don't like to be photographed.
