Vincent and Michelangelo are promising love and easy writing and good plot and a solid resolution and much fun angst. but I know they lie, and as soon as they have me seduced, they will spurn me again.

Books.

They're all the same.

Remember, they only want one thing...

At least you've got them figured out now - their cat-like, tricksy ways. It's easier that way, isn't it?

::reconsiders::

Well, maybe it's easier. Maybe it's just more amusing, in a bitter-gritty way, from one's own point of view as an onlooker at the overall process.
There's always more Schadenfreude in watching somebody else get seduced and spurned than in being the spurnee one's self....
The thing that isn't a sense of humor, that I got from my Maine-raised Scorpio father, finds it cynically amusing and annoying both to watch such things in myself.

It seems that when I'm being smart and useful I'm too busy to notice, but when I do stupid things the interior observer lights up and makes snarky remarks. I hadn't thought about that before.

Well, you wouldn't want to lose the book seduction, would you? I mean, I can't imagine you wanting to give up writing even with the times you hate every word.
Hee. I like the thing that isn't your sense of humor.

As for the other--I've quit twice. It didn't take.
And lucky for your readers that is, too.
