I tried to give notice on my job today.

And they wouldn't let me. But we're going to see about cutting my hours, which should help.

At least I feel needed.

Oh, you're just not trying hard enough to make a living as a writer! j/k
Well, I could have staged a dramatic "I Quit!" scene. *g*
Dude, that's exactly what happened to me!

Ah well. Mercury is still in retrograde until the 15th or so.
That whole Mercury-retrograde thing is just not working for me this month.

On the other hand, I may just have gotten payback for 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004, which were some dramatically crappy years.

It would *all* show up in a week.
But what are they going to do if you just stop showing up? Kidnap you and force you to come to work every day?
I have Puritan guilt issues. *g* I mean, I could QUIT, you know. But I've worked here six years; it'd be nice to be able to ask them for a reference if I ever needed it....
aassssss youuuuuu wishhhhhhhh
"A" for effort.
It's nice to be needed, even if you could do with less!

GIving Notice

Two thoughts cross my mind. You're super and so are the folks that said "NO" and then offered to make changes in work requirements. Consider: Just a few years ago (for us old farts) a person giving notice to do anything beyond the "PROFESSIONAL SETTING" got FIRED! Yes, They did. Here you have folks willing to give a mile to get an inch. I'm impressed.
"course it could be that they know what all the commenters here and on OWW know. You're a treasure.
David Haseman
oops did I just leave my real name on my post? Yup
Congratulations again. I hope the thrill doesn't dim.

Re: GIving Notice

Hee. The real thrill, David, is meeting people like you.
Heh. So true.
The same thing happened to me not all that long ago. I'm going to try again soon. :)
*gentle hugs* Perhaps it's a sign that you need to tackle this in stages. Cut back the hours, see how that pans out; if it's positive, try again with your notice :)
Cutting hours will help.
I can't escape Scardown!
Today I saw it in my local grocery store.
And then, later, in a random drugstore.

Your book must be stalking me!
It wants you!
Hopefully you'll be able to cut your hours to a point that suits you. Best of luck!
Well, congrats on trying to take that step...
errrmmmmm.....just read your bio and.....well.....

I *too* share a birthday with Frodo and Bilbo. Did you come down on the Virgo or Libra side of the cusp? I ended up a Libra by 33 minutes, but didn't discover it until a few months ago.
I'm a Virgo sun sign with everything else in Libra, and nothing like either sign at all. *g*
