That's the end of part one (The festival of meat), twelve chapters and 220 pages complete. I am so proud of myself. A perfect split on what's intended to be a ~440-page book. The second half is called The mortification of the flesh, and I get to start that when I get back from having my hair cut. I am so very pleased.

Also, I think I pulled off this scene on which the whole book pivots, and it feels solid.

Reason for stopping: haircut, end of scene, end of chapter, end of section.
Mammalian Assistance:  kit_kindred gave me thirty seconds worth of backrub. Tease. Also, Marlowe had to be forcibly evicted from my mousepad.
Stimulants: seltzer
Exercise: 40 minutes gothercise
Mail: nomail
Today's words Word don't know: occiput, lucently
Words I'm surprised Word do know: n/a
Tyop du jour: He was drawing a breath to green Miss Pretoria when an entirely different voice interrupted him; poutput
Darling du jour: The bruise-limned darkness of sunspots hung vivid against the glare, the ceaseless fidgeting of the corona marked, abruptly, by the dolphin leap of a solar arch.
Books in progress, but not at all quickly: Richard Overy, Russia's War: A History of the Soviet War Effort, 1941-1945; David Riggs, The World of Christopher Marlowe; Jon Courtenay Grimwood, Pashazade
Mean things: That would be spoiling. *g*
Other writing-related work:  none
Interesting tidbits:  I dunno why Leighton even bothered putting people in his paintings. Dude, we're just here for the cloth.
