This feels like 9/11; I can't stop watching (didn't drag myself away from the computer until 1am last night; left late this morning, and even now find myself spending more time scanning the news than getting work done) and more and more bad news keeps coming down the pike.

Just saw on MyDD that "The Port of Southern Louisiana is the fifth-largest port in the world in terms of tonnage, and the largest port in the United States." and it's a key port for grain exports and our oil imports.
Americablog reminded me of the bankruptcy bill taking effect in just over a month's time.

The latest news shows both rays of hope and signs that this is just the first pebble in an avalanche. I hate this.
I'm right there with you. As you can no doubt tell.

*hug*
Didn't you once blog about a con panel "Living in a Disaster Movie"?

See the last two paragraphs of this article about fuel and chemical storage tanks in the affected areas...
Argh. Growf. Argh.

Thanks for the link.

And oh, shit.

Yeah, I did. It was a good panel.

Gasoline in Katrina's wake

FYI to those on the East Coast: gasoline is already getting hard to find in some places. Stations as far north as Williamsburg VA are reporting shortages and long delays before more gas is expected.

Conserve and carpool, folks.
