I would both post considerably more often on LJ, and write considerably more letters, if I could dictate directly from brain to computer. The interface of hands and keyboard completely disrupts my literate prose.
wandering around the house alone in the middle of the knight

I make phonetic typos, too.

Of course, maybe it was another kind of typo, but it looks like the kind of thing I'd do when I was tired or distracted.

I love your posting the 'darling du jour.' How do you come to call it that? My connection is immediately with Shirley Jackson's advice to young writers: "Murder your darlings." But I hesitate to assume that anyone else has read that.
Yep, it's from Jackson. *g*
Really? I'm so charmed.
I've been meaning to ask you this for awhile--so your dogs don't, like, hang out with you the whole time you're writing?

Mine do--they lie down as close to my feet as they can get, which occasionally leads to really loud fights when someone encroaches on someone else's space. Then, I pinch someone's foot with the chair and that leads to further loud recriminations, this time directed at me, but which, being they are Rottweilers through and through, they have forgotten about three minutes later. If it's hot, Billie might deign to lie on the kitchen tile, but that's still within main viewing distance. And, of course, there is the inevitable barking at skateboards and red wagons when they go by because they are evil, evil, evil--which inevitably leads to someone getting too close to someone else and having a great loud telling off all over again.

From which, I guess that it is obvious both why I should never have more than two dogs and why I don't get more writing done than I do...
Hang out with me?

And get off the couch !?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I wonder, is there some kind of speed-contest between autopope and yourself by some chance? Because you seem to have won (presumably by the time you read this) by a narrow margin.
Charlie declined to race when I asked him.

scalzi's also on the last hard push on his current monster.

I think it's just the desire to be done. Especially when you get to the last little bit, and you KNOW everything that has to happen.

It's just getting it OUT.
Hmm. On the matter of downloading brains, I can only offer my previous suggestion.

When you figure out how to do that, can you let me know? I'm feeling the same way about Solace (aka The Damned Novel). Meh.
If only I could download my brain.

I would sell my non-existant firstborn child to be able to do that.
