No Empty Head Yet

Critter consensus so far is that the ending, rough as it is, and complete with a sequel hook the size of the anchor on the Maine, more or less works. So yay!

And my musical choices today seem to be overwhelmingly in pick-on-Maggie-Thatcher mode. Which I guess is fittin'. (Hmm. Need to find my copy of that 10,000 Maniacs song about the Vietnam Memorial.)

And Jenny and Elspeth and Valens and the rest are still poking around in the back of my head. I suspect they're still hanging out back there because they're waiting for me to finish the second draft, and then they'll take off. Probably for a good long time, since ther story really is done.

Some characters are good company.

Some characters are not.

Jenny's one of the ones I'm going to miss.

Just a song before I go:

Carl Sandberg

Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo.
Shovel them under and let me work -
I am the grass; I cover all.

And pile them high at Gettysberg
And pile them high at Ypres and Verdun.
Shovel them under and let me work.
Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?
Where are we now?

I am the grass.
Let me work.
