And I really liked that character, dammit. Killed three or four potential stories, as well. Maybe I can do a prequel.

You can always bring 'em back. I've got a book out there with two unacknowledged ghosts in it, characters who died in previous stories (and internal evidence confirms that the novel does postdate the stories). It's never mentioned that they are officially dead - but they do both mysteriously disappear before the end of the book. I love that stuff.

;-) I always sort of mourn the lost opportunities that go with a lost character, too.
