Get your anti-breast-cancer chocolate here

Unfortunately, it's produced by means of brutal slave labor.

But you can't have everything.

Sigh. I knew about blood diamonds and coffee, but hadn't specifcally heard about chocolate-I'm not sure why... googling easily turns up loads of info. The papers presumably needed the space for coverage of Jessica Simpson at the time.

Anyway, just another reason to buy organic and fair trade. I don't eat much from Hershey's or Mars but I'm sure gonna miss Godiva :/
yeah.

The good news is, Black & Green's and Dagoba are *very* good.
Also, Droste and Ritter Sport. (I'm 95% sure the RS is safe, anyway. Droste definitely is.)
Mmmm, I just hit the Dagoba website... and I bet they have those brands at Fog City News, which also carries the big three SF mags.

Sounds like the gods want me to eat mostly-guilt-free chocolate while reading science fiction.
Isn't Dagoba where Yoda lives?
Yeah, I'd like to see some sources. Because various interviewees disagree.
Thank you very much!
Y'know, I do remember the expose that got slammed for using the stories of several children and putting them in the mouth of one non-existent child for the article. I think I read about it in Vanity Fair.

However the slavery situation is real enough, in cocoa harvesting and elsewhere.

Aye. I am on a roll with the fair trade thing, and am keen to keep it that way. It's funny how you can get into it, the more you read up on it...
