the editorial process

Anne-my-editor has stopped taking my colons out, as she did all through the Jenny books, and started putting colons in.

I'd given up on them.

Anne-my-editor has stopped taking my colons out

That is such a perfect sci-fi/horror hybridy sentence...
See, it's a publishing scam. Twenty years from now they'll release an Author's Cut edition of Hammered, "ALL LOST SECTIONS CAREFULLY RESTORED!!" I.e., the colons.

Two hundred years from now there'll be the Variorum Edition, which lovingly documents every colon change and typesetter's flub.

Colon removal...

Isn't that a surgical dietary practice?
She wasn't taking them out and tossing them away, you see. She was stockpiling them against the Great Colon Shortage of '06. Such foresight!
Yukkai. Writerly colonic irrigation!

First editor I dump my stuff on is going to send me straight to punctuation purgatory for my extraneous full stops... :(
My particular personal vice is the compound sentence: with colons, but also; semi-colons.
I love my comments section.
With my compliments.
Maybe someone explained the compliacations associated with short-bowel syndrome to her.

Oh. Different colons. I do need time off.
